100 years, 4 generations only one secret: The Balsamic Vinegar of Modena

In 1912, the first company to obtain a Ministry license to manufacture and sell Balsamic Vinegar of Modena was Monari Federzoni: today, this leadership is still rooted in an ancient family tradition.

The story of Monari Federzoni Balsamic Vinegar begins in a small barn above a food market belonging to Mrs. Monari Federzoni, in the heart of the historic centre of Modena. Today, it is a brand that is widely recognized and appreciated in over 50 countries worldwide and the number one selling item in the US market. In addition to balsamic vinegar of Modena the range includes: wine vinegars, glazes, balsamic sauces and white balsamic condiment.

Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is the result of the acetic fermentation of must of vines typical of Emilia Romagna region and wine vinegar in hardwood vats and casks, the process that creates balsamic, slowly follows the natural ranges of temperature of an area with very hot humid summers and long cold winters. The authentic Balsamic Vinegar of Modena can only come from the Northern Italian Province of Modena, as it has been recently recognized by the European Union with the Protected Geographical Indication status (PGI). All Monari Federzoni balsamic vinegars of Modena are PGI certified.

Four modern “high tech” bottling lines, distinguished by speed and automation, meet every customer’s requirement producing a range of up to 175 different items and 13 different quality grades. Some of the most unique among them include Organic and Kosher Balsamic Vinegar. The incredible versatility of the range is bolstered by a daily production capacity of around 80,000 bottles as well as a fully-computerized production cycle for all components.
