Dried artisanal pasta, dried flavoured pasta, dried egg pasta, bakery products.
Our company was established in 1989 in Puglia (Apulia), in the south of Italy. Today the company includes a plant for artisanal pasta, another one for bakery products, sauces and marmalades, and a line of bottling/packing for extra virgin olive oil.
Puglia is a region which produces some of the finest durum wheat world wide and its production is over 10 millions tons per year, so in the beginning the mission was to produce only ARTISANAL PASTA following avery old method in making pasta: using a special blend of semolina, bronze moulds and a very slow drying process at a very low temperature not exceeding 50°C which gives “Cara Nonna” pasta its special roughness and inimitable taste. It was very hard to combine tradition and new technologies but after many years we have been gratified by our products that today we export in many parts of the world such as EUROPE, USA, LATIN AMERICA, AUSTRALIA, CANADA, HONG KONG, TAIWAN, JAPAN.
We have always intended to introduce various shapes of pasta on the market and today we can offer more than 100 items of dried artisanal pasta, plain, coloured, egg pasta, from lasagne to whole wheat products.
In our assortment you find a range of fine pasta sauces, savoury gourmand snacks, a special selection of extra virgin olive oil and two kinds of ‘all natural’ Italian Gourmet vegetables.
The sauces, as well as the pasta, are made in a very artisanal way, they are based on classic fresh tomato, fresh vegetables and extra virgin olive oil: gourmand recipes, chunky and full of flavour, displayed in a lovely glass jar. They are a perfect compliment to “Cara Nonna” pasta or can be used as a tasty topping for bruschetta. An alternative to our ready-made sauces you can dress “Cara Nonna” pasta with our ‘Cherry Tomatoes’ simmered in tomato juice whose extraordinary flavour is due to their cultivation close to the Adriatic sea.
We expanded the range with many types of snacks like Taralli (round-shaped), ‘Bruschette’, Stuzzi, Nodini (knot-shaped), according to traditional Apulian recipes, and also bread sticks and bread snacks, all spiced with typical Mediterrenean flavours. Those snacks are ideal for appetizers or traditionally eaten instead of bread with antipasto or together with a glass of wine or aperitif. We have also introduced a variety of traditional sweet biscuits with almonds, with chocolate, or special cookies with wine and sugar and many other special ingredients we found in our old recipe books.
We also offer an extraordinary extra virgin olive oil, with a delicate straw colour and a rich scent due to a delectable variety of olives called Peranzana, only growing in the surrounding area of San Severo. This ‘special’ harvest is hand picked and naturally cold-pressed, then it’s bottled without additives, chemical solvents or preservatives. It is also used to be flavoured with White Truffle, Lemon and Chilli Pepper: rich ‘luxuries’ appreciated by the most sophisticated cooks.
The Gourmet vegetables are: irresistible rolls of sun dried tomatoes stuffed with capers and anchovies, grilled artichokes and peppers in olive oil and a vary special item such as the ’Bella di Cerignola Olives’ known all over the world as one of the best table olives in Italy. Our home-made and hand packed vegetables, used as a side dish, offer goodness and flavour for today’s demanding consumer.
The last products introduced in Cara Nonna range are fruit jams made from typical Apulian fruits.
A selected gift line which makes the “Cara Nonna” brand more exclusive is “The Ceramics”. Those ceramics are produced from local artisans in the city of Brindisi, Lecce and Bari. These pans and trays are hand-painted and can be used for cooking and/or serving. This year “Cara Nonna” has introduced a new gift box line such as briefcases, which include pasta, sauces and exclusive gifts. We also offer the basket hamper and the wooden box all filled with the “Cara Nonna” special products.
