The spring is situated on the right-hand slope in the valley of the Posina river, at 630 metres above sea level. This valley, as already pointed out, has a particularly high average annual rainfall (about 1800 mm). After a tunnel had been dug to route the water which emerged from all the various sources of the spring in a single pipe, the checks carried out regularly and with accuracy on the spring water since 1973 have demonstrated a constancy in the temperature of the water and a remarkably high capacity. In fact the temperature of the water has always been shown to be approximately 8°C, and is not influenced by the seasonal changes in weather. The capacity has demonstrated an exceptional constancy of 37-38 litres per second, and an increase of 1-3 litres per second was observed only 10 days after heavy rains had stopped. Chemical-physical and bacteriological studies have always revealed the exceptional lightness and absolute purity of the water, which is consequently judged low in mineral content.
